Abnormal Program Termination When Trying To Install Oracle 10gR2 On MS Windows 2008 64 Bit (Doc ID 783296.1)

SYMPTOMS

While installing 10.2.0.1 64 Bit software for Windows 2008 64 Bit server you may receive the following error amd OUI crashes :

No logfiles generated.

CAUSE

You may receive this error while installing native 10.2.0.1 on Windows 2008 64 Bit server using the default 10.2.0.1 installer.

You can not install the 10.2.0.1 version on Windows 2008 (x64). 

You need to use the version specific for MS Windows 2008 (x64)

It is also recommended in the My Oracle Support certify section as a special instruction to 
install the 10.2.0.4 version that is specific for MS Windows 2008 (x64).

SOLUTION

-- To implement the solution, please execute the following steps :
 

Download the 10.2.0.4 version that is specific for MS Windows 2008 (x64) : 
either through a direct SR to Oracle technical support
or with help of Note 1071023.1 : How to Request Physical Shipment or FTP download of Software Media


NOTE: 
If you are installing Oracle10g Release 2 (10.2) on Windows 2008 Release 2, 
once you have downloaded the correct software you should follow Note:1173433.1 to install it
